Munster U16A Championship
The Ragg
Tipperary 3-10 Clare 0-4
Two second half goals ensured Tipperary took the points in their clash with Clare in the opening game of the Munster U16 Championship on Saturday in the Ragg.
Clare played with the aid of a strong breeze in the opening half but were unable to capitalise on the weather elements to add to their scoring tally. Tipps Sophie Maher opened the scoring with a point in the third minute. With ten minutes on the clock Evie Scanlon opened Clares tally when she converted from placed ball. A Tipperary free four minutes later was well managed by Clare net minder Emily Kelly however Caoimhe Stakelum gathered and finished to the net. Stakelum added a point from the puckout, with Scanlon converting another free before half time to leave the half time score in favour of the hosts, Tipperary 1-1 Clare 0-2.
With the wind at the backs in the second half Tipperary hit the ground running and hit over four points with no replay before Ciara Shelly struck for the Premiers second green flag. Scanlon pulled a point back for the Banner but it was to be Tipps day as Ciara O’Hora struck for Tipps third green flag with points from Maher, Sarah Corcoran and O’Hora while Clare were only able to add another Scanlon free to leave the fulltime score in favour of Tipperary.
