U13A Shield Final
Scariff Ogonnelloe1-4 to Inagh kilnamona 0-4
Inagh Kilnamona and Scariff Ogonnelloe contested the U13A Shield Final in monsoon like conditions in Fr McNamara Park on Saturday October 13th. Conditions made playing camogie very difficult and the contest that ensued was a credit to both teams who stuck to their task bravely.
The first half commenced with Inagh Kilnamona's Grainne Burke at centre forward, showing great determination to carry the ball under pressure and score a great point from the right sideline. Scariff Ogonnelloe's defence was under pressure for the entire first half but withstood it well. A long range free from Scariff Ogonnelloe's Eimear Rodgers found the roof of the net mid way through the first half and Eimear added another point before half time. Inagh Kilnamona’s Grainne Burke got her second point towards the end of the half to leave the score at 1-1 to 0-2 at half time.
The second half saw great battles all over the field as both teams intensified their efforts in order to take victory but conditions and tenacious defending made scores difficult to come by. Ultimately, set piece scores proved decisive with Scariff Ogonnelloe’s Eimear Rodgers scoring three and Cliodhna Queally from Inagh Kilnamona scoring two frees, leaving the final score 1-4 to 0-4 to Scariff Ogonnelloe. To the credit of both teams and sets of supporters given the conditions, a crowd remained on the field afterwards for the presentation where Marie Louise Kaiser, on behalf of Clare Camogie, presented the shield to Scariff Ogonnelloe's joint captains, Molly Orme and Eimear Rodgers.
