The Clare Champion U16 Championship
U16A Cup Final
Inagh Kilnamona 0-11 Feakle/Killanena 0-9
Inagh Kilnamona captured their second under 16A title in a row with 2 point win over Feakle/Killenena on Sunday last. This was a hard-fought contest and a brace of points in the closing minutes secured the win for Inagh Kilnamona. Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the opening half, Feakle/Killenena had three points from play in the opening ten minutes. Lorna McNamara was dominating at centre forward and following a good pass from Clare McNamara to Zi Yan Spillane Feakle/Killenena managed a further four points before half time. It took Inagh Kilnamona a while to settle but a brace of points from captain Aoibhin Ryan one from play and four from frees left half time score Feakle/Killanena 0-7 Inagh Kilnamona 0-5.
A positional switch of moving Tierna Hegarty to mid field and Hannah Shannon to centre back helped Inagh Kilnamona aided by a strong wind ensure that a greater supply of ball got into the forwards, a point from play from Muireann Daffy and five points from frees from Aoibhin Ryan were a joy to watch. Feakle/Killenena added two points in the second half, however Hazel O’Connor, Elisha Twomey , Orla Vaughan and Caoimhe Longe worked very hard in the Inagh Kilnamona backs. It was however Inagh Kilnamonas' day and Clare Camogie PRO Brid McNamara presented the Jane O’Shea Cup to joint captains Aoibhin Ryan and Patricia Coote.
